THE COLOR BEIGE

Neutrals are soothing and peaceful. I’ve always been drawn to this color palette and to the textures. Recently I’ve begun to incorporate more neutral tones in my home, which is a big deal for someone who has always surrounded herself with color (and lots of it!) I’m having fun with it and enjoying the mix. What colors do you decorate with?

FALL INSPO

I certainly need some Fall inspo! We have had the driest, hottest weather on record for September. It’s unseasonably warm today. A cool front is headed our way for the weekend though! It will be our first real drop in temps this year. I can’t tell you how ready I am. Anyone who lives in southern Louisiana knows just what I mean!!

The Fall wildflowers are profuse. Cutting goldenrod, asters and native sunflowers is a must! Mums, gourds, pomegranates and pumpkins are readily available. I will hang my pine cone wreaths this weekend when the cool hits. What do you do to welcome the change in seasons??

NEW COLORS

Brinley is available in two new colors just in time for Fall decorating! Both the chocolate and ochre colors are crisp and rich on a white cotton ground. We think Brinley is a natural for pillows and table linens. Click on the image to see all the color options.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

“It's good to get home when you've been away, which I sometimes wonder is the purpose of going away at all. Travel energises the mind and lets you experience wonderful new things; but then you get home and realise that your tiny little corner of this big wide earth is the one you love most of all, and are happiest in.”

I do love an English garden. This winter we are putting in a new bed and I’m gathering inspiration. It will be a mix of perennials and annuals as we have such heat to contend with. Finding hardy plants and flowers that thrive in those conditions is an absolute necessity. Luckily we know which ones tolerate the heat and humidity best. That being said, sometimes gardening seems to have a mind of it’s own. We planted Angelonia and Creeping jenny in pots outside our door again this year because last year…FANTASTIC! This year….no blooms on the Angelonia. I’ve no clue why. Next year we’ll decide whether or not to try again or try something new. The joys of gardening! Full of possibilites…..

OCHRE

Hard to believe that Fall is really on it’s way! But it’s true. The light has shifted and I find myself drawn to earthy colors that are both grounding and cozy. Colors like ochre, buttery yellow, mustard, amber, beiges that give off a warm glow like our fabrics in the collage. Today I read that the Farmer’s Almanac predicts a very, very cold and long winter. Hmm…guess we’ll have to wait and see. While we tend to have mild winters in Louisiana, anyone from here knows “ that bone-chilling” cold we sometimes have. The kind that makes you want to hunker down indoors with a good book and a steaming cup of tea…I do love all things Fall though, so bring it on!

MIX IT UP

I always love seeing the colors and patterns of the pouches together! There are so many ways to mix them up. With two sizes to choose from, you can either match a set or mix it up. We’ll be adding even more patterns soon to give you more choices, but in the meantime, if you see your hearts desire and think it’s not available, think again! Just send a custom request and we’ll get back to you with details!
